AUTHOR GUIDELINES
Scope and article types
The International Journal of Business & Computational Sciences (IJBCS) welcomes research on computational, quantitative and data-driven methods applied to business, management, economics, finance, information systems and organizational decision-making. Submissions must explain their contribution to this intersection. Purely technical demonstrations without a relevant application, and general descriptive papers without a clear scholarly contribution, may be desk rejected.
Identify the manuscript as original research, systematic review, review article, methodological paper, data/software paper, perspective or editorial, as appropriate to its actual methods. Editorials are handled separately from externally reviewed research.

Preparation and submission
Submit through the journal's OJS submission system. Use consistent UK or US English. The normal manuscript length is 5,000–10,000 words including references; explain justified exceptions in the cover letter. Provide a 250–300-word abstract describing purpose, methods, principal results and conclusions, and 4–8 specific keywords.
Use APA 7th edition consistently for in-text citations and the reference list. Check every reference against its source and include verified DOI URLs where available. Cite only relevant work; authors are never required to cite IJBCS to increase journal metrics. Fabricated references, purchased citations, citation exchanges and coercive or irrelevant citation requests are prohibited.
Upload a separate title page and an anonymized manuscript for double-anonymized review. Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments and identifying document properties from the review file; place identifying declarations in the title page or a separate file. Number tables and figures consecutively, provide descriptive captions and source/permission statements, and supply legible figures and editable tables.

Author and article metadata
Enter the complete title, abstract, keywords and article type in OJS. Add every author's full name, department, institution, city, country and accurate email address; identify the corresponding author and provide each author's ORCID where available. Do not invent an ORCID or email. Author order and affiliations must agree across OJS and the title page. Provide a cover letter explaining scope, novelty, related work, preprints or overlapping manuscripts, and any special ethical or confidentiality considerations.
All authors must approve the manuscript and submission, meet the journal's authorship requirements and accept responsibility for their contributions. Gift, guest and ghost authorship are prohibited. Provide a CRediT contribution statement. Authorship changes require a reason, written agreement from all affected authors and editorial approval.

Required declarations
Include Funding (including funder names, grant identifiers and funder role), Competing Interests, Author Contributions, Ethics Approval, Informed Consent, Data Availability, Code Availability, AI/Automated Tools Use and Acknowledgments. Use "Not applicable" only with a suitable explanation where a requirement does not apply; state explicitly when no funding or competing interests exist.
For human-participant, survey, behavioral or personal-data research, identify the ethics committee, approval reference and consent arrangements, or explain the documented exemption/waiver. Report permissions and safeguards for confidential or sensitive data. Do not submit identifiable participant data for public release.
Provide versioned repository links or persistent identifiers for data and code where sharing is lawful and appropriate. Where access is restricted, explain the restriction, custodian and access conditions. Authors may be asked to provide supporting materials confidentially for editorial assessment.

Methods and reproducibility
Describe the design, sampling, inclusion/exclusion criteria, data provenance, analysis methods, assumptions, missing-data handling and limitations sufficiently for assessment. Report software/package versions, key parameters, random seeds and hardware where material to reproducibility.
AI/ML studies must describe train/validation/test separation, leakage prevention, relevant baselines, justified performance metrics, uncertainty, and bias/fairness where relevant. Claims of external or real-world validation must be supported by appropriate data.
Simulation and synthetic-data studies must be explicitly labeled and describe generation methods, parameters, validation and limitations. Synthetic results must not be represented as observations from real participants or real-world validation.
Systematic reviews must report databases, complete search strategies, final search dates, eligibility criteria, screening procedures, flow of records, quality/risk-of-bias assessment and synthesis methods, with an appropriate reporting checklist and flow diagram. Label narrative and scoping reviews accurately.

Generative AI and automated tools
AI systems cannot be authors. Disclose substantive use of generative AI or automated tools, including the tool, purpose and affected parts of the work. Authors remain responsible for accuracy, references, originality, permissions and the integrity of all data and images. Fabrication or falsification is prohibited. Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential submissions or personal data to public AI services.

Editorial assessment
Submissions undergo scope, completeness, integrity and conflict checks. Research manuscripts proceeding to external review are normally assessed by at least two independent external reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers may request revisions; editors make the final decision on scholarly merit, methodological rigor, ethical compliance and relevance. Editor-authored or otherwise conflicted submissions require independent handling. Review duration varies; acceptance and publication dates are not guaranteed. Payment must not influence editorial decisions.
Consult the journal's current editorial policies, article processing charges and license terms before submission. Published articles retain the license attached to their Version of Record. Substantive post-publication changes require a documented correction process; historical dates, authorship and content must not be silently altered.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Articles

Original Research Articles

The Original Research Articles section publishes original empirical studies that make a substantive contribution to the interdisciplinary scope of the International Journal of Business & Computational Sciences (IJBCS) .

Manuscripts submitted to this section should present a clearly defined research question or hypothesis, an appropriate and reproducible methodology, systematic analysis of original data, a transparent presentation of results, and a discussion demonstrating the study's contribution to existing scholarship.

Studies should demonstrate a meaningful relationship between computational, quantitative, analytical, technological, or information-systems approaches and substantive questions in business, management, economics, finance, or organizational research.

Minimum Requirements

  • A clearly defined research objective, question, or hypothesis;
  • An appropriate study design and methodological framework;
  • A transparent description of data sources, participants, datasets, or experimental procedures;
  • Appropriate statistical, computational, qualitative, or mixed-method analysis;
  • Clear presentation of results without fabrication, selective reporting, or unsupported interpretation;
  • Appropriate ethics approval and informed consent where applicable;
  • Disclosure of funding and competing interests;
  • A Data Availability Statement where relevant;
  • A Code Availability Statement for computational work where relevant; and
  • Compliance with the journal's submission requirements .

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass initial editorial screening are normally evaluated through double-anonymized external peer review by at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise.

Acceptance is based on originality, methodological rigor, research integrity, significance, clarity, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope.

Editorial

Editorials

The Editorials section publishes scholarly editorial material written or commissioned by the Editor-in-Chief or other authorized members of the editorial leadership of the International Journal of Business & Computational Sciences (IJBCS) .

Editorials may introduce an issue or thematic collection, discuss developments relevant to the journal's scholarly scope, address matters of research methodology or publication practice, or provide evidence-informed commentary on important developments in business and computational sciences.

Editorials are clearly identified as editorial content and are not ordinarily subject to external peer review. However, all editorial material remains subject to internal editorial assessment, appropriate citation standards, competing-interest disclosure, research-integrity requirements, and the journal's publication-ethics policies.

Editorials must not be used primarily to promote commercial services, individuals, organizations, products, journal metrics, or unnecessary journal self-citation.

Where an editorial presents original research data, substantive systematic evidence synthesis, or research claims requiring independent scholarly evaluation, the manuscript should normally be submitted under the appropriate peer-reviewed article section rather than as an Editorial.
