The International Journal of Business & Computational Sciences (IJBCS) is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal published by the Health and Education Research Network (HERN), Pakistan.
IJBCS provides a scholarly platform for research investigating how computational, quantitative, analytical, digital, and data-driven approaches contribute to advances in business, management, economics, finance, information systems, and organizational decision-making.
The journal seeks manuscripts demonstrating a clearly identifiable scholarly contribution, methodological rigor, transparent reporting, responsible research practices, and meaningful relevance to its interdisciplinary scope.
Aims
The principal aim of IJBCS is to advance scholarly understanding of the interaction between computational sciences and contemporary business, economic, financial, managerial, and organizational problems.
The journal seeks to:

Scope Boundaries
To maintain a coherent interdisciplinary identity, manuscripts submitted to IJBCS should demonstrate a meaningful relationship between their computational, quantitative, analytical, information-systems, or technological component and a substantive business, economic, financial, managerial, or organizational research question.
Purely technical computing manuscripts without a meaningful connection to business, economics, finance, management, organizations, or decision-making may be considered outside the journal's scope.
Similarly, general business or management manuscripts without a substantive computational, quantitative, analytical, technological, or information-systems contribution may be considered outside scope.

Manuscripts must be classified according to their actual methodology and scholarly contribution. Narrative, conceptual, or descriptive work should not be represented as original empirical research unless the underlying study design supports that classification.
Peer Review
All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine whether they are consistent with the journal's aims and scope and satisfy minimum requirements concerning scholarly quality, originality, methodology, reporting, research integrity, and ethical compliance.
Research manuscripts that successfully complete editorial screening are normally evaluated through double-anonymized external peer review by at least two independent reviewers possessing relevant subject expertise.
Reviewers are expected to evaluate originality, methodological rigor, validity, interpretation, scholarly contribution, ethical compliance, and clarity of presentation.
Editorial decisions may include rejection, major revision, minor revision, or acceptance. Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers when additional expert assessment is required.
Final responsibility for editorial decisions rests with the responsible academic editor. Decisions are based on scholarly merit, methodological quality, ethical compliance, relevance to the journal, and the outcome of the editorial and peer-review process.

Editorial Independence
IJBCS maintains a clear distinction between academic editorial decisions and the administrative, financial, or publishing functions of the publisher.
The Health and Education Research Network (HERN) provides organizational and publishing infrastructure for the journal but does not determine whether individual manuscripts are accepted or rejected.
Editors make publication decisions according to scholarly merit, methodological quality, ethical compliance, relevance, and evidence obtained through the editorial and peer-review process.
Publication charges do not determine editorial decisions or reviewer recommendations.
Open Access
IJBCS operates as an open-access journal. Readers may access published scholarly content online without subscription-based access barriers.

The license stated on the Version of Record of an individual article governs the reuse of that article. IJBCS does not retrospectively change the license attached to a published Version of Record without an appropriate legal basis and any authorization required from the copyright holder.
Article Processing Charge
IJBCS applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 100 per article.
The APC supports the journal's scholarly publishing and production activities. Payment of the APC does not guarantee manuscript acceptance and does not influence editorial screening, peer-review recommendations, or final editorial decisions.
All manuscripts remain subject to the same academic, ethical, and peer-review requirements irrespective of payment status.
Authors should review the current submission information before submitting their manuscript.
Publication Ethics and Research Integrity
IJBCS is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, responsible research conduct, and scholarly integrity.
Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to comply with applicable journal requirements concerning originality, authorship, competing interests, ethical approval, informed consent where relevant, research data, confidentiality, responsible citation, peer-review integrity, and correction of the scholarly record.
Potential cases involving plagiarism, redundant or duplicate publication, fabricated or falsified data, inappropriate image manipulation, authorship misconduct, citation manipulation, peer-review manipulation, undisclosed competing interests, or other forms of research or publication misconduct are subject to editorial investigation.
IJBCS supports internationally recognized principles of responsible scholarly publishing, including guidance provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) .
Editorial and Peer-Review Conflicts of Interest
Editors and reviewers must disclose relationships or circumstances that could reasonably affect their objectivity.
Editors do not handle manuscripts for which they have a significant personal, professional, academic, financial, institutional, or collaborative competing interest.
Manuscripts authored by members of the editorial team are assigned to an independent editor and remain subject to the journal's standard peer-review requirements.

Generative Artificial Intelligence and Automated Tools
Generative artificial intelligence and AI-assisted technologies do not qualify for authorship. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, references, interpretation, and conclusions of submitted work.
Where generative AI or automated tools have been used substantively during manuscript preparation, data analysis, code generation, image production, or other research activities, such use should be disclosed in accordance with journal requirements.
Reviewers and editors must protect manuscript confidentiality and should not upload confidential unpublished manuscripts, peer-review reports, author information, or associated research material to publicly accessible AI systems where doing so may compromise confidentiality, privacy, copyright, or intellectual property.
Data, Code, and Reproducibility
IJBCS supports transparent and reproducible research practices.
Authors should describe research methods with sufficient detail to permit appropriate scholarly evaluation and, where reasonably possible, replication or reproduction.
Research involving datasets, software, algorithms, statistical analyses, computational models, or machine-learning systems should provide appropriate information concerning data provenance, analytical procedures, software environments, and model development.
Authors are encouraged to make supporting data, code, and other research materials available through recognized repositories where legal, ethical, contractual, privacy, commercial, or security restrictions do not prevent sharing.
Examples of established research repositories include Zenodo and OSF.
Publication Schedule
IJBCS publishes one annual issue.
Accepted content may be made available electronically in accordance with the journal's declared publication workflow before final issue compilation where appropriate.
Once a Version of Record has been formally published, substantive amendments are addressed through transparent correction or other appropriate post-publication procedures rather than undocumented alteration of the scholarly record.

Journal History
The International Journal of Business & Computational Sciences commenced publication activity in 2021.
The Health and Education Research Network (HERN) was formally registered in 2023, formalizing the organizational structure responsible for the journal's management and publishing activities.
The journal initiated its ISSN application process in 2024. Following completion of the registration process, the journal's print and online ISSNs were formally assigned in 2025.
Where content originally published before implementation of the journal's current OJS platform has subsequently been migrated, digitized, or reformatted, IJBCS distinguishes the original publication date from the later platform migration or digitization date.
Supporting historical and editorial records are maintained to document the provenance of earlier journal content.
The later assignment of the journal's ISSNs does not alter the documented publication history of earlier material. IJBCS does not represent an ISSN as having been assigned before the date on which it was formally issued.

IJBCS is managed and published by the Health and Education Research Network (HERN) , Pakistan.
HERN was formally registered in 2023 and provides the organizational and publishing infrastructure supporting the journal.

Published material is not silently altered to conceal substantive errors, changes in authorship, changes in publication history, or other material amendments.
The journal takes account of applicable guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics when addressing retractions and significant post-publication concerns.
