Background and Purpose: The automotive sector is increasingly shaped by sustainability, technological modernization, and consumer demand for personalized vehicle ownership, while classic cars retain strong heritage and collector appeal. Classic vehicle owners may nevertheless face reliability, emissions, maintenance, and specialist-service constraints. This study assesses the market potential for eco-friendly classic car modification services in Kuwait and develops a strategic business plan for a specialized venture, Classic Paradise.
Methods: A qualitative, pragmatist research design was used. Primary evidence was gathered through a 39-respondent survey, stakeholder interviews with automotive professionals and enthusiasts, ethnographic observation, and prototype exposure at automotive exhibitions. Secondary literature and market information supplemented the analysis. SWOT, PESTLE, thematic analysis, and financial planning tools were used to assess feasibility, market demand, operational requirements, and strategic positioning.
Findings: The study identified substantial interest in classic vehicles, with 76.9% of survey respondents indicating interest in purchasing a classic car for personal enjoyment and 69.2% reporting willingness to purchase if suitable options were available. Participants highlighted maintenance, reliability, specialist parts, and cost as important barriers. Stakeholder interviews indicated an underserved niche for professionally modified classics that preserve heritage aesthetics while incorporating technologies such as electronic fuel injection, catalytic converters, improved braking, and other modern performance and reliability upgrades.
Theoretical Contributions: The study integrates automotive sustainability, consumer innovation adoption, classic-car culture, and entrepreneurial feasibility analysis within a single market-specific framework. It extends the discussion of sustainable mobility by considering how restomod practices can reconcile heritage preservation with modern engineering and environmental objectives in a Gulf-market context.
Conclusions and Policy Implications: Kuwait presents a promising niche for professionally delivered classic-car modification services, provided the venture manages high startup costs, long project cycles, specialist skills, imported-parts dependence, and regulatory requirements. A premium, transparent, quality-assured business model aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035 and broader automotive modernization trends may support viable market entry. The findings support continued attention to safe modification standards, emissions compliance, consumer protection, and skills development within specialized automotive services.
